I admit I am obsessed with beautiful eco-friendly tile. I recently came across modwalls, who create a number of beautiful tile options, a few of which are both eco-friendly and sustainable. While all of the modwalls products are gorgeous, their collection of environmentally friendly tiles ranges from unique and intriguing cork tile to soothing monochromatic pebble tiles.
In fact, modwalls offers four eco-friendly tile options in cork, natural pebble mosaics, recycled glass pebbles and recycled glass. Cork is by nature one of the most sustainable materials around, with cork trees naturally replenishing themselves every few years. The recycled glass pebbles, by far my favorite, are created from 100% recycled glass bottles. And the luminous Veridian recycled glass tiles are made from 98% recycled pre-consumer glass. Interestingly, the recycled glass in these eco-friendly tiles comes from recycled windshields and window glass from demolished buildings.
These environmentally friendly glass tiles are versatile enough to be used on backsplashes, flooring, walls and counters, while the pebbles can also be used on fireplace surrounds and outdoor surfaces. The cork tiles are suitable for floors and walls, even in wet areas.
