Composting on Overdrive Creates Natural Fertilizer

Converted Organics is single-handedly tackling the dilemma of what to do with all of our wasted food. The company recycles solid food waste into organic biostimulants (or natural fertilizer for us laypeople) that will be used for organic farming, yard maintenance and green gardening.

The company uses a process called HTLC or High Temperature Liquid Compost to turn the food waste into a usable, sustainable, natural fertilizer and more. HTLC takes the composting process a little further, with the addition of extra oxygen and heat. The result is food waste that is composted and converted into natural fertilizer in only a few days, instead of a few months.

Converted Organics' innovative approach to composting offers many environmental benefits. The company's composting process mitigates some of the abundant waste we are producing and sending to landfills. Secondly, the speedy composting process decreases the amount of methane that is typically released from decaying food. Finally, the product is natural, providing a safer environment for kids, animals and ourselves.

Their natural fertilizer works by nourishing the soil, rather than the plant. This allows the soil to continue to offer necessary nutrients to the plant for a longer period than synthetic (and more harmful) fertilizers, which provide nutrients to the plants.

Don't let the "natural" label scare you into thinking the fertilizer won't work. Converted Organics claims that their products are just as effective as synthetic, chemical fertilizers, if not more so. And their website offers proof from studies that they've done illustrating the efficacy of the products.

So after we thaw out from the winter, be sure to check out both their residential and professional lines of natural fertilizers. And know that every purchase helps divert a little more waste from the landfill.
